More Details

Access Sport has worked with climbing and bouldering venues since 2019 to make the sport more inclusive for disabled young people.

Through our Changing Sports climbing programme, we provide seed funding, equipment and training so venues can launch new pan-disability inclusive sessions.

We want to use climbing and bouldering to create opportunities for disabled young people to experience the transformational benefits of community sport and plan to scale this offer to more climbing venues nationwide.

What is it?
Changing Sports climbing supports local climbing and bouldering centres to create adapted and sustainable pan-disability climbing and bouldering offers. We also support centres to be more inclusive and welcoming to disabled young people. It is run by Access Sport and delivered by community climbing venues.

Who is it for?
Changing Sports climbing focuses on supporting disabled young people aged 5-25, as well as those with long-term health conditions. Every climbing and bouldering centre or club has a bespoke offer suited to their community’s needs, developed with our team’s support.

How does it work?
We support local volunteers and coaches by ensuring they are confident in inclusive climbing delivery and help build a strong base of disabled climbers. Our climbers participate in this fantastic sport in a welcoming, flexible, non-judgemental environment where the offer is tailored to each individual’s needs.

Please note, that these Depot Climbing sessions are for ages 7-13.
