Wide Boyz Crack Fest is back at Depot Sheffield for another round! 2024 will be bigger and better than ever with even more tickets available!
The world’s leading crack climbing festival returns to the heart of UK climbing for anyone with an interest in Crack!
From the fully-fledged connoisseurs of the jam to those curious to give it a try and learn a new skill, Crack Fest is open to all to experience all the ‘crack’.
Below you’ll find details of 2024’s event, how you can get tickets and some refreshers on previous years editions.

2024 Results

Crack Fest is an annual event open to all climbers aged 18+ and those aged 14-17 who have been signed off to climb unsupervised at Depot Climbing centres.
While some general climbing experience is helpful to make the most of the day, you certainly don’t need to be a seasoned crack expert.
Crack Fest involves a circuit of crack-based problems, challenges ranging from the perplexing to the ridiculous, and the massively popular Wide Boyz Crack School.
There is also lots of prizes up for grabs from sponsors, and the Crack Off final will determine who will be crowned Crack King and Queen 2024.

Crack Fest 2023 Images
You may have noticed photographer Dave Parry lurking around the centre capturing the day in all it’s glory.
Dave has amassed a collection of Crack’ing shots of you all from the event and is offering you the chance to find your favourite pic of the day to be printed in a beautiful high res print for your home.
Take a flick through the collection on Dave’s site, PennineLines and see if you can spot yourself or a friend. Prints range in size from A4 upwards and can be delivered within 2-5 working days.

What’s the Crack?
If you aren’t familiar with crack climbing, this sub-genre of the sport involves following cracks in the rock using specialised techniques, such as jams, locks, and laybacks.
Crack Fest will see the centre transformed into a crack climbing wonderland, with special holds and volumes being used to create some of the world’s most imaginative indoor crack climbing.

2022 Highlights
Crack Circuit
This is a fun circuit of boulder problems, with a crack-based theme. Think of it as an off-the-beaten-track set of boulders; jamming with hands, feet, knees, heads, bottoms, and bodies – anything goes in this comp!
The problems are suitable for all abilities, starting easy and gradually getting harder, right up to ‘pretty techy’.
If you haven’t jammed before, enter the draw to win yourself a place in a free Wide Boyz ‘Intro to Crack’ School class, which will be happening on the day.
There will also be at least 2 crack coaches available on the mats – your chance to get tips and tricks from the pros!
The 8 top male and females with the most points from the crack circuit, combined with their score from the feature challenges, will battle it out in the finals to be crowned Crack King and Queen 2024.

‘Intro to Crack’ Schools
There will be 6 1-hour FREE ‘Intro to Crack’ schools running throughout the day.
These will be run by Wide Boyz crack coaches Tom, Pete or Katherine, and they are the ideal place to get your crack foundations down.
If you would like to be in with a chance of winning a free place, just select the option to enter the draw when making your booking.
Places will be drawn at random and allocated to specific timeslots on the day, with 3 classes in each session (am & pm). Each class has 8 spaces.

Feature Challenges
There will be a number of different Feature Challenges to test your strength, stamina, technique, and pain threshold, with individual prizes up for grabs for each challenge. Each one brings with it the opportunity to win hard cash from the Wide Boyz themselves!

Depot Climbing Registration
If you have not climbed at Depot Climbing before, registration forms must be completed prior to taking part in Crack Fest.
These can be completed online, via the links below. All adults participating in the event must complete the adult unsupervised waiver form.
Under 18 waiver forms must be completed by a parent or legally appointed guardian for any child attending the event.
Event Details
Due to popular demand (last year’s 300 tickets sold out in 13 minutes!), we have upped participant numbers to 500 this year.
To safely accommodate 500 Crack heads, the day will be split into two sessions of 250 participants, followed by finals.
This year, we will send an early notification of ticket launch to the list of sign-ups below, getting you access before the rest! Sign up below to get first dibs when tickets go live.
By signing up we will email you before the general ticket launch so you can be at the front of the queue for the hottest crack climbing event of the year.
Please note that signing up does not guarantee a ticket.
General Sale tickets go live at 8 pm on the 5th of February. Early access sign-ups will receive an email on this date, at 7:30 pm. There is a maximum limit of 2 tickets per booking.
Session 1: 9 am – 1 pm
Session 2: 2 pm – 6 pm
Finals: 7 pm (max capacity 320 spectators)
