Accessible Climbing

Accessible Climbing options for all climbers.

MakingEverybodyStrong is the mantra at BIG Depot Climbing Manchester, and to us, that means everybody!

Accessible climbing options for those with complex needs, disabilities, or neurodivergence are all part of our mission to help every climber who uses our centre, regardless of background or ability, to enjoy the positive impact that climbing has on our lives.

We know from our own experience that climbing is a long-term, lifetime influence, and it can provide independence and confidence to those who take part, as well as opening up a whole new community, with a sense of belonging in safe spaces.

We work with Access Sport to bring more inclusive climbing sessions to Manchester.

Below are details of spaces and sessions that we provide to make climbing inclusive for everybody.

Sensory-Friendly Hours

We are aware that a lot goes on inside a climbing centre, from busy periods of footfall to loud music and drills filling the space.

That’s why we’ve looked at when we can point to some less stimulating hours for those who prefer a quieter visit to enjoy climbing without all of the hullabaloo that can often go with it.

Between 1 pm and 3 pm, every Friday and 5 pm and 9 pm every Sunday, we will ensure that there is no drill work taking place within the centre (if necessary, we will signpost) and either turn the music down or off, so that you can enjoy a quieter time while you climb.
