Join us at BIG Depot Manchester on Saturday, the 27th of June, for the inaugural lead climbing competition for those in the U13 and U15 age categories.

What is the Youth Cup Lead?
Building on the success of the Depot Youth Cup bouldering event, the Lead Climbing Youth Cup is the beginning of an alternative climbing competition for young lead climbers who are in active competition pathways and academies.
This event is open to those competing in the U13 (born 2014/2015) and U15 (born 2012/2013) age categories, and there will be 8 routes in a scramble format competition.
Climbers can compete individually or in pairs. Individual entrants must compete in their allocated age category, while paired competitors can mix age categories and gender. Individuals will climb all 8 routes, while paired groups will climb 4 routes each (must complete all 8 routes as a pair) to combine for a total score.
There will be a podium for individual-aged male and female climbers, as well as a pairs podium (pairs can be mixed gender and age range).

What is the format of the day?
Doors: 9:00
AM Session: 10:00 – 13:00
Lunch Break: 13:00-14:00
PM Session: 14:00 – 17:00
Prize Giving & Podiums: 17:30
Scramble format. Highest ascent, then speed of ascent.
Each route and climb is judged.
Competitors can climb routes at their leisure in the scramble format, but only get 1 attempt at each route.
Please note that safety briefings will take place 15 minutes before the start of each session and must be attended by every competitor.
Scoring Format & Scorecards
There will be 8 routes to climb during the competition.
Each competitor or pair will receive 1 attempt at each route. Individuals climbing all 8 routes, pairs climbing 4 routes each.
Scramble format means competitors can attempt each route in their own time.
Scorecards will be provided, and must be handed to the judge at the base of each route before any attempt takes place.
Depot will provide belayers for all routes; however, we are in need of judges and would appreciate volunteers from parents attending to help staff this important role. Please contact the centre or speak to a member of staff to confirm your availability as a judge.
