Depot Climbing 15th Birthday
Depot Pudsey is celebrating having our doors open for 15 years! Since 2009 we’ve been a mainstay of the Leeds climbing community and a destination for climbers from across the UK and beyond.
Join us for a day of competition and community.

Where it all began
Born from a passion for climbing, when we came across an old bus depot in Pudsey, Depot Climbing came into existence. 15 years on, with 7 walls (and an 8th on the way) none of us saw how far our climbing dream would go!
This building in Pudsey isn’t just our heritage home, its what forged our name! Starting life as The Climbing Depot (the obvious choice for a wall in an old bus depot building), and evolving over the years to Depot Climbing, we’ve gone from bringing climbing to the local community, to the North West and Midlands.
Now we’re excited to celebrate our origins, in our original (and favourite!) site.
This is your formal invitation to our 15th year celebrations, so whether you are new to climbing, or have been supporting us since day 1, come down and get involved in this celebration off all things Depot Pudsey.
What’s on?
Join us in the morning for free taster sessions, intros and information about all things climbing with a focus on family involvement. With sessions for kids aged 1+ & 7-14 as well as adult tasters, we’ve got everything you and the whole family to give climbing a go. More details below.
In the afternoon, we’ll have a fun-filled climbing competition with traditional competition climbing blocs alongside wacky-fun-orientated challenges. More details below.
Need to keep fuelled for a full day of climbing and partying? No problem, our friends Terra Tacos will be here serving the very best in Mexican street food throughout the competition.
Once you’ve finished climbing, you’ll be able to refresh and reward yourself with a beer from Northern Monk!
Morning Session
Climbing Taster Sessions
9 am – 1 pm
With a focus on those in the early stages of their climbing, and those looking to involve the whole family in the wonderful sport of indoor climbing; we’re going to be putting on a range of taster sessions in casual coaching tips to get your climbing started on the right foot, to nationally accredited junior courses.

Kids Club Tasters
Half-hour taster sessions for our most popular Junior Climbing session, perfect for those aged 7-14.
Consisting of a series of games and challenges aimed at building confidence, on-the-wall skills and lasting enjoyment of climbing movement, Kids Club is the perfect session for juniors of all abilities.

Adult Tasters
Fancy giving indoor climbing a go? Adult taster sessions will help acclimatise you to the indoor climbing environment, help you navigate the centre safely, and start building your own climbing community as part of the wider scene here in Pudsey.
These sessions will be running in tandem with Kids Club tasters, so that you and your kids can enjoy all that climbing has to offer.

Rock Tots Drop-in Taster Sessions
A session for ages 1+ that gently introduced the world of climbing through songs and games in a fun and safe environment, Rock Tots provides skills that are perfect additions to those young and inquisitive minds.

Our centre will also be open to the general public as usual during this time for any regular climbers keen to visit.
Afternoon & Evening Sessions
Birthday Bash Bouldering Competition
2 pm onwards
25 fun-filled Birthday Bash bouldering blocs are the main event of the day! We’ve been running comps here in Pudsey since 2009, and have learnt a thing or two about fun bloc in that time.
Boulders will be set by our own in-house setting team, and feature an array of challenges to test yourself against, from dyno blocs to crack climbs and dead hang challenges, the competition will be about more than just climbing, it’s about the FUN of climbing!
So chalk up, and get ready! Our Birthday Bash Bouldering Competition kicks off at 2 pm and you’ll have 5 hours to complete as many fun-focused boulders as you can!

We’ll have a raffle full of top prizes from our best suppliers, + prizes for each category winner too!
Competition entry is £15 (£10 for Unlimited Climbing Pass members) and includes entry to the centre and competition + exclusive Depot Climbing t-shirt.
