NICAS Ascend

Supported by the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme & Access Sport, we are delighted to be offering NICAS Ascend, a climbing pathway for disabled and neurodivergent young climbers.

Supported by our experienced and qualified coaches, participants will develop their climbing skills within a structured environment, working their way through the NICAS Ascend award scheme.

Focused on cultivating a lifelong involvement in climbing, the scheme teaches climbing techniques, terminology, equipment use, safety, and etiquette while providing a record of personal achievement.

What is NICAS Ascend?

The latest addition to the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS), Ascend is a program developed and tested with, and for, disabled and neurodivergent climbers.

Providing a groundbreaking framework for disabled or neurodivergent young people, including those with complex needs, to not only experience climbing, but to take part in structured sessions suitable for their needs, and be recognised for those achievements through this national award scheme.

Working in partnership with Access Sport, NICAS Ascend is being delivered nationwide, and Depot Climbing are proud to be involved not only in delivering these sessions, but also in supporting the development of the scheme via involvement as a Base Camp Supporter of the program.
