The fourth part of our Competent Climber adult pathway.
Learn to Fall is the culmination of learning to auto-belay, learning to lead belay & learning to lead.
All your learning is laid out and tracked in a handy logbook with any booking. So you can dip in and out as your schedule requires.
The four-stage pathway can be started at any time you can join at any point depending on your experience.

What is Learn to Fall?
The real deal.
Learning to fall when lead climb can be daunting, which is why our classes break down the information in easy-to-understand chunks, practicing every new skill before moving on to the next.
Our instructors have years of experience, so it is also a great opportunity to ask all the questions you have about fall practice, climbing, lead climbing and climbing outside.
The class is 2 hours long and due to the nature of lead climbing we have split the content into 2 different classes. Learn to Fall, and Learn to Lead.
Learn to Fall focuses on climbing efficiently as well as safely. We also introduce falling off, getting you to fall safely and catch a falling climber safely.
We find this class to be the most enjoyable and rewarding for climbers who are ready to push themselves.
At Big Depot, we allow you to manage your own learning, giving you the opportunity to come to as many classes as you like and whichever classes suit your schedule.
On average people complete the process and are signed off in three classes.
What does it cost?
£40 per person, per class.
Price includes entry and equipment hire.

Wednesday’s 19:00-21:00
Friday’s 19:00-21:00
Learn to Fall Booking
Classes need to be booked in advance and can be done online, over the phone, or at the centre.
There is also an option for block booking and booking multiple weeks in advance.
This does not have to be consecutive weeks, if there is a week you cannot make, as long as Big Depot Climbing Centre knows in advance, the bookings can be rolled over to a different date.
