Accessible Climbing
MakingEverybodyStrong is the mantra at Depot Climbing Birmingham, and to us, that means everybody! Accessible climbing options for individuals with complex needs, disabilities, or neurodivergence are integral to our mission to support every climber who uses our centre, regardless of background or ability, in enjoying the positive impact that climbing has on their lives.
We know from our own experience that climbing is a long-term, lifetime influence, and it can provide independence and confidence to those who take part, as well as opening up a whole new community, with a sense of belonging in safe spaces.
We work with Access Sport to bring more inclusive climbing sessions to Birmingham.
Below are details of spaces and sessions that we provide to make climbing inclusive for everybody.

Sensory-Friendly Hours
We’re aware that a lot is going on inside a climbing centre, from busy periods of footfall to loud music and drills filling the space.
That’s why we’ve looked at when we can point to some less stimulating hours for those who prefer a quieter visit to enjoy climbing without all of the hullabaloo that can often go with it.
Between 1 pm and 3 pm, every Monday & Thursday, we will ensure that there is no drill work taking place within the centre (if necessary, we will signpost) and either turn the music down or off, so that you can enjoy a quieter time while you climb.

NICAS Ascend at depot Birmingham
Developed, tested with and for disabled and neurodivergent climbers, NICAS Ascend brings the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme to ALL climbers.
The program allows those with disabilities, neurodivergence and complex needs to experience climbing and have their achievements celebrated in this nationally accredited scheme.
NICAS brings you certified and accessible junior climbing pathways in conjunction with Depot Climbing.

Climbz by Access Sport at depot Birmingham
We are excited to be working with Access Sport to bring their Climbz sessions to BIG Depot Manchester, offering climbing sessions for disabled and neurodiverse climbers of all experience and ability levels.
