What is the Battle of Britain?

Affectionately referred to as BoB, this competition is open to any climber who is keen, and is a great chance to climb alongside some of the biggest names in UK competition climbing; how many GB Climbing athletes will you spot?

The BoB is one of the longest-running competitions in the UK climbing scene, having started in our heritage site, Pudsey in Leeds way back in 2011 and is now hosted by the biggest bouldering centre in the UK: Depot Manchester.

We now see 400 competitors join the competition each year, from all over the UK, and even a few entrants from abroad!

The setting team makes sure to set a competition that is inclusive of all climbing abilities to enjoy, culminating in a grand final that usually has some of the UK’s strongest climbers battling it out on the wall to be crowned BoB Champions and take home a prize fund of £2k each.

We’ll have some of Climbing’s biggest brands in attendance on the day, plus lots of our own special offers.

Accessibility Statement

Our aim is to be as accessible and inclusive as possible, and we are always looking at how we can remove barriers to entry in any of our climbing walls.

Our aim is to be able to offer climbing to everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, everyone at Depot Climbing is equal and will be treated equally when visiting.

If you have any contributions or have some changes you’d like to see, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected]

Getting Here

All directions to the centre and our address can be found on our Contact Us page or via the Google Maps link below.

We have a free-to-use car park with 60 spaces, however, this does fill up quickly. There are also 2 disabled parking spaces close to the main entrance, if you have any issues with parking using the disabled spaces, our friendly team will be happy to help find a suitable space.

We have secure storage for bicycles inside the centre, and are just a short walk from the Media City UK tram stop, and can also be reached via buses x50 and 250 from Manchester.

Accessibility

Our centre is accessible via wheelchair, with easy access to the main climbing areas, toilets, changing rooms and cafe area.

We have accessible toilets positioned around all areas of the centre, with the main male and female toilets and changing rooms situated just a short distance from reception.

A gender-neutral disabled toilet can be found directly opposite reception, which has an accessible doorframe and an emergency chord to alert staff if you are in need of assistance. A second disabled toilet is located in the training area.

We have male and female changing rooms situated next to the main male and female toilets immediately left of reception.

As the largest bouldering wall in the UK, we have endeavoured to make safe and accessible walking pathways around our centre. We have also placed wayfinding maps with ‘you are here’ location pins to aid in navigating.

If you require assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of staff who will be happy to help.

We ask you not to walk on the mats if you are not climbing, and food, drinks and wheel/pushchairs are not permitted on the mats. This is for the safety of all participants.

Fire exits are clearly marked around the centre so you will never be too far from a safe exit in case of emergency.  Emergency lighting will light any emergency exit pathways and our fire assembly points are located in the car park at the front of our centre and in the car park to the rear of the training unit.

You can view our full accessibility statement here.
