BIG Depot Manchester Coming Soon!

Olympic Climbing isn’t the only big news item this year!

As a team of climbers, creating spaces for all climbers, we are excited to be expanding our offering of world-class indoor rock climbing in Manchester by complimenting our existing bouldering-specific site in Trafford with what will become the UK’s biggest climbing centre, located in Wythenshawe, South Manchester. 

Our new climbing centre will house roped climbing, bouldering and children’s climbing walls, a fully equipped gym, a yoga studio, a cafe, remote working spaces and a comprehensive climbing shop will be on offer, with a planned opening timeframe of late summer 2024 for this exciting new multi-million-pound climbing centre in Wythenshawe.

BIG Depot Manchester will complement the already excellent climbing options in the North West, with extensive lines of roped climbing and boulders on offer, we will provide world-class climbing to climbers of all abilities and experience levels.

The climbing style will reflect current and future indoor rock climbing trends. It will be built to the highest IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing) standards, creating a state-of-the-art climbing centre and a world-class customer experience, that will satisfy both Olympic climbing hopefuls, to those chalking up for the first time.

A bespoke and spacious layout of the climbing wall areas will provide a comfortable space to enjoy a more 3D approach to indoor rock climbing, providing a coherent parallel with outdoor climbing.  Our classic brand of strong climbing will be complemented with an investment in quality route setting that focuses on movement.

A purpose-built junior area will provide better-defined climbing for the younger crushers in our community, aimed at developing their indoor rock climbing skills in an area suitable for their requirements.

With a focus on accessibility, BIG Depot Manchester will host a beginner-friendly area that will contain routes created to hone skills in the early stages of the climbing journey, alongside up to 25 auto-belay lines and a wealth of courses suitable to equip anyone to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of indoor rock climbing.

Our latest latest climbing centre will be fully wheelchair accessible, with designated parking, and easy access to the main climbing areas, toilets, changing rooms and hospitality areas in multiple areas around the centre.

Once open, BIG Depot Manchester is expected to attract climbers from all over the UK and beyond, with Wythenshawe having excellent transport links from both the city centre and surrounding areas by car, bus, and tram and with Manchester airport is situated nearby.

Our latest climbing centre will be fully wheelchair accessible, with designated parking, easy access to the main climbing areas, toilets, changing rooms and hospitality areas in multiple areas around the centre.

We expect to create 32 new job roles in the area, bringing our total employment figures to the 200+ mark. In the coming months, we will begin the centre’s recruitment process, and all vacancies can be found on our Recruitment page.
