FAQ Kids Climbing

We gathered some common questions that are asked by parents ahead of booking a session. If you have any other questions or concerns, then just click the button below to get in touch.

Is climbing appropriate for all ages?

Yes! It definitely is. Our climbing community ranges from 0 to 60+ years of age. It’s a true sport for life and we’re so pleased to be able to offer sessions for children of all ages. So whether your toddler is taking their first wobbly steps onto the mats, or your teenager is keen to take up a new hobby, climbing is the ideal choice.

Does my child need to wear or bring anything in particular?

Nope! As long as your child is wearing something comfortable and which allows them to move their arms and legs freely, then they’re all set. We have all equipment available to hire.

What if my child is scared of heights?

Climbing isn’t all about getting to the top of the wall! A huge part of climbing is learning skills on the mats and applying these at ground level or simply by traversing (going along) a wall, rather than climbing up. Our instructors work with children on a day-to-day basis and are experts in building confidence and enthusiasm – the aim is to make climbing fun, not scary! All of our sites except Big Depot are bouldering centres only – that’s climbing up to a maximum of around 4m above thick mats without a harness and rope.

Can we visit the centre before booking?

Of course! Our Centre Managers will be more than happy to meet you at the centre and give you a guided tour of our facilities, if you’d like to have a look around before booking a session.

Can I drop my child off or do I need to stay with them?

Our kids sessions are led and supervised by instructors, so there’s no need to stay with them throughout the session. If you’d like to stay at the centre while your child climbs, then you are more than welcome to wait in the cafe area.

Do you work with children with disabilities?

Absolutely! Climbing is a surprisingly accessible sport and our instructors have the training and the experience to adapt sessions to every child’s needs. If you have specific questions about your child’s requirements, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
