BMC British Lead Climbing Championships 2026
BIG Depot Manchester – February 21st/22nd
Depot Climbing is once again partnering with the British Mountaineering Council to host the 2026 edition of the British Lead Climbing Championships at BIG Depot Manchester, in Wythenshawe.
The event takes place across the weekend of the 21st and 22nd February, and will result in some disruption to the centre from Monday, the 16th of February.
The British Lead Climbing Championships, commonly referred to as the BLCCs, is the largest national lead climbing competition in the UK calendar, and is a key event for the GB Climbing team, acting as a key competitor selection event for the upcoming World Climbing competition calendar.
This draws in the biggest names in the UK climbing competition scene, including Olympic Gold medalist Toby Roberts and Depot Climbing’s very own Erin McNeice, who followed up a 5th-place finish at the Paris Olympics with being crowned the 2025 Lead World Cup Champion.
Erin is also the reigning British Bouldering and Lead Climbing champion, having won both events in 2025 here at BIG Depot Manchester.
How Will This Affect You, Our Regular Customers
We will be open to the public as usual throughout preparations and during the event, but the Biographie, Demi Lune and Un Pont Sur L’infni areas (lines 77-100) will be out of action from the 16th as we prepare, and from the 23rd as we infill and tweak routes from the event to make them suitable for the public.
On the days of the event (21st & 22nd), the Comp Wall & Gallery bouldering areas will be unavailable as they act as an isolation area for competitors.
These areas will be open to the public up until close on the 20th, and open again as usual from the 23rd.
Any spectator tickets will be handled directly by the BMC, and they will communicate any information regarding these.
The semi-finals and finals will be live-streamed via the BMC TV YouTube Channel.
