Following the previous refurbishments of 2020, 2023, and 2025, Depot Nottingham is undergoing further renovation to improve its offering to the climbing community of Nottingham.
This will result in some disruption to the usual service for a short period, but the final result will be worth any short-term effects.
What will be happening?
We’re excited to announce further upgrades for the next phase of redevelopment of our climbing centre, which includes the addition of a gym area and some entrance infrastructure improvements.
Our mezzanine area will be transformed into a gym and training area, featuring a diverse range of equipment from kettlebells and dumbbells to a bench, lat pulldown machine and functional trainer in order to support strength and flexibility training. We are excited to announce the addition of a fully adjustable Tension 2 board, a standardised LED climbing board to help with incremental progression in climbing training.
This work will begin on Monday, 4th May, with stripping of the climbing areas and preparatory work in the area. Full installation of the equipment will continue over the coming weeks, with further updates provided via our social media channels.
Additionally, we will be carrying out improvements to the entrance of the centre, upgrading the entrance steps to ensure the comfort and safety of all of our climbers.
In the climbing areas, we will also be renewing the matting in the kids’ area.
There will be some disruption whilst we work on the mezzanine and again when renewing the matting. The wall will remain open for these works.
For the upgrade of the entrance steps, we will need to be closed for some half-day periods of time and details on this are given below.
Depot Climbing is excited to be continuing the development work and appreciates the patience and understanding of all climbers while this work is completed.
Work to be Undertaken
- Removal of climbing areas on the mezzanine, to be replaced with a gym and training area.
- Replacement of the kids’ wall area matting
- Improvement of the entry area (staircase)
Opening Hours during Refurbishment
From May 4th
Work on the mezzanine will not require any centre closure, but will result in the mezzanine not being available.
From May 11th
Monday 11th – 13th: 4 pm – 10 pm
Any changes to opening hours will be communicated via social media.
